Overnight at your hotel in Lima.

Day 2: LIMA – CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY
After breakfast, you will be assisted in Lima airport for your flight to Cusco.

Upon arrival in Cusco airport, you will be welcomed by our Guest Services Representative and transferred to the Sacred Valley where you will have lunch at a beautiful traditional restaurant.

The Sacred Valley of the Incas contains many famous and amazing pre-Columbian sites. Its name comes from the original name of the river that runs through it, Willka Mayu or Sacred River, which was considered sacred by the Incas, because it was a mirror reflection of the Cosmos – the Milky Way on this Earth, as an important symbol of fertility. Here you will enjoy a pleasant climate, pictures que villages and local artisan markets.

Excursion to Pisac Village and its Traditional Market. Pisac Andean Village is best known for its pictures que market, which draws hundreds of tourists each week. In spite of its popularity the market retains much of its local charm, at least in the part where villagers from miles around gather to barter and sell their produce.

The small Main Square is filled wall-to-wall with stalls selling the full range of Peruvian handicrafts: alpaca sweaters and mittens, carved gourds, ceramics, felt hats, musical instruments, paintings, jewelry and weavings.

Dinner and overnight at your hotel in the Sacred Valley.

Day 3: SACRED VALLEY – HATUNCANCHA & OLLANTAYTAMBO
After breakfast, depart hotel in the morning towards Ollantaytambo. Once here, you will start ascending to the summit of the Andes Mountains. After a 45 minute drive, you will arrive to Hatuncancha “The Great House”, one of the most traditional and unique Quechua communities.

Hatuncancha sits on an incredible spot by the shores of a crystalline stream flowing in the paramo, a unique mountain habitat where condors glide on updrafts and llamas and alpacas graze on its prairies. This tranquil place is home to one of the most authentic Quechua-speaking families we have ever met.

They will welcome us into their home or cancha which has stood in the exact spot since the Incas ruled the area. The houses in Hatuncancha were built on top of the foundations of older Inca structures; some of these houses are used nowadays as residences by Quechua local families.

You will enjoy their hospitality, learn about their ancient way of life and even have the opportunity to participate in this family’s everyday life, working side by side with them as they knit, weave, perform the farm chores, tend the live stock and cook their traditional dishes. You will also be able to learn about agricultural traditional techniques from them in their bio-garden.

A trip to Hatuncancha is a journey into the past, to a world governed by a concept of time very different to the one which holds sway in this thought-tormented age of ours. You will also enjoy lunch prepared with Andean products grown in the area. This will indeed be a once in a lifetime experience!

In the afternoon, you will visit Ollantaytambo, the oldest continuously occupied settlement in the Americas, which demonstrates the best surviving example of Inca city planning. The complex consists of a number of ascending terraces alongside which runs a path that provides entrance to the highest part. There are a large number of houses or chambers which are made of rough blocks of stone. This ancient complex, was originally a Temple and later used as a fortress by some Incas to repel the attack by the Spanish conquerors.

The stones for Ollantaytambo were taken from a nearby quarry on the mountainside on the opposite bank of the river, an incredible feat involving the efforts of thousands of workers. This important Inca site is a great example of magnificent stonework.

Dinner and overnight at your hotel in the Sacred Valley.

Day 4: SACRED VALLEY – MACHU PICCHU TOUR
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to Ollantaytambo Train Station.

Board the train to Machu Picchu. The Vistadome service includes carriages with panoramic windows which enhance the scenic view. During the journey a light snack is provided.

You will arrive at the Machu Picchu train station and will be transferred to Machu Picchu Archaeological site in a 25 minute bus ride.

Machu Picchu Citadel Tour

Machu Picchu is the most important site of the vast Inca Empire. This UNESCO World Heritage site is often referred to as “The Lost City of the Incas” and is one of the most famous and spectacular archaeological complexes in the world — a visit to Peru would not be complete without it. Machu Picchu is considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and recently awarded as the Most Ecological Destination in South America.

You will enjoy a private Machu Picchu tour accompanied by your expert guide, who will lead you through the site, providing archaeological and historical information on key areas of interest, including Intihuatana (the Sun Dial), the Sacred Plaza and the Temple of the Sun. The story of Machu Picchu is quite interesting. It’s still unknown what the site was in terms of its place in Inca life. Some scholars believe that Machu Picchu was a summer country resort for elite Incas. However, other theories affirm that the site was one of the greatest Ceremonial Centers in the entire Inca Empire.

Dinner and overnight at your selected hotel in Machu Picchu.

Day 5: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
After breakfast, you will have an excellent opportunity to enjoy a beautiful sunrise in an early Machu Picchu tour to visit this amazing place for a second time. For the most adventurous ones, we suggest to go up the Huayna Picchu Mountain from where you can appreciate the immensity of Machu Picchu, even more amazing being high and distant. It’s an exciting adventure for the travelers who want to see, from the top, the nature and the carved stone emerging from the ground. Alternative softer excursions are also available such hikes to the Sun Gate or the Inca Bridge.

After lunch, you will head to the train station where you will board the Hiram Bingham or Vistadome train according to your program category.

Upon arrival at the train station, you will be met by our Guest Services Representative and transferred to your hotel.

Overnight at your hotel in Cusco

Day 6: CUSCO & VILLA TIPON
After breakfast, enjoy a half day visit of this magical city as you drive through the main streets with their Inca walls. Visit the Qorikancha, or Sun Temple now referred to as Santo Domingo Church. The curved stonework of the temple is probably unequalled in the world which during the Inca period was covered with gold.

Then, you will have the opportunity to visit the impressive archaeological sites around Cusco: Saqsayhuaman, an Inca complex with huge stone constructions, where the Inti Raymi or Festival of the Sun is held every June. Sacsayhuaman has a great cosmic energy – that is why people think it was an astronomic observatory and an Inca oracle. Also, you will visit Q’enqo, a place used for ceremonial purposes, fertility rites and celebrations of the solstice and equinox. Back to the city, you will visit the San Pedro Local Market where you will see the real life of Cusco and then proceed to San Blas, the Artisans’ Neighborhood of narrow and high streets, visit its beautiful little plaza. Here you will see the extensive variety of hand-made artisan products, as well as designer boutiques for alpaca sweaters, bags, jewelry, etc.

In the afternoon, continue to Villa Tipón, a private farm home located just outside the city of Cusco. This unique and wonderful retreat is set in the midst of awe inspiring mountains. There are incredible gardens full of vividly colored flowers that invite you to take a relaxing stroll. Enjoy a delicious Peruvian lunch followed by an Andean ceremony performed by a local Shaman.

In the afternoon visit Tipón or “The Water Temple”, this little-known jewel of the Inca Empire and its extensive ruins which include baths, terraces, irrigation systems and a ceremonial complex. From the ruins, you may go up and see some more constructions and an Inca road with a deep irrigation channel. The site represents great mastery of irrigation and hydraulic technology. The Inca engineers of Tipón designed this huge complex to be visually and functionally harmonious with their surroundings.

Overnight at your selected hotel in Cusco.

Day 7: CUSCO – LAKE TITICACA
After breakfast, you will be transported to Cusco Airport and assisted prior to your flight to Juliaca.

Upon arrival at Juliaca Airport, you will be welcomed by our Guest Service Representative and transported to your hotel in Puno where you will be assisted during your check in.

Located between Peru and Bolivia, Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world and one of the most fascinating destinations in Peru. Situated at a very high altitude, at over 12,503 feet above sea level, Lake Titicaca is considered a sacred place for the Inca civilization, as the Incan mythology says that the first Inca king, Manco Capac, emerged from this lake. You will have many places to discover on the shores of Lake Titicaca, as well as on the many islands that exist on the lake. A tour at Titicaca is definitely an unforgettable experience for any visitor.

On the way, you will visit The Chullpas of Sillustani. They are located 34 kilometers away from Puno where you will have a panoramic view of the city, the bay of the lake and the Meseta del Collao. In Sillustani you will visit a Pre-Inca cemetery, believed to be the most important in Collao and a sacred place where the most important people of the Kolla were buried in chullpas, circular stone buildings in form of towers.

We recommend you to have a siesta, take it easy and drink plenty of liquids in order to get used to the altitude.

The Uros people are also known as the “water tribe”, which pre-dates the Inca civilization because they must construct its own Islands periodically, adding new layers of totora reeds, which grows in the lake, to create the conditions that ensure the islands stay afloat.

Following this exciting tour, you will be led to the Island of Taquile. This beautiful island is famous for its craft production, particularly for its beautiful textiles and where we will be able to appreciate how people maintain its customs, religion and folklore. In the town of Taquile you will taste a traditional lunch with fresh fish. After lunch, you can visit the craft fair on the plaza that sells exceptional wool goods which are of very fine quality.
